Name:


When I wanted to buy this domain there were actually two names I had in my mind that I wanted to use for this domain. Those two names were "A Sorta Fairytale" and "Fly Me Away". Originally I had "A Sorta Fairytale" in my mind as my favourite name for this domain. But whether I tried .org or .net or .com, they were all taken already, so that's why it became this one.

The first site I ever had was a Backstreet Boys fansite. I was on the web for a while when I started that site. I really wanted a place where I could post my favourite pictures, but most of all where I could put my stories. I had found out about fanfiction just before, so my own site was the best place. Angelfire was a great host at that time. I learned a lot of things at this site, with quite a bit of space in the beginning and with great help. But ofcourse I needed a name for this site as well. I wanted a name that I could relate to, that I felt represented to me. I think that at that time I just bought Lene Marlin's album and I really liked her music and her lyrics. So when it came to picking a name for the site, I picked a part from "Flown Away". I thought the song was beautiful, especially the lyrics. And I could relate to this part:

Please my wings, fly me away

Back then I also felt like I do sometimes now. And I was about 14 or something back then. But I felt that part of the song especially fit me. Because I wanted someone to please my wings too and fly me away. I still think that it represents me and I still would like that very much. So that's how my first site ever got that name.

I also had "A Sorta Fairytale" in mind. This was the name of my first hosted site at a domain. It was an Elijah Wood fanpage, with some of my stories up there as well. It was hugely popular back then. I started it at Angelfire, but then it got hosted and I learned so much with that as well. FTP and everything. The song is by Tori Amos and I still think that's one of my favourite songs. I love Tori, she's my favourite singer/songwriter. And the lyrics to this song are amazing. That's why I had this in mind first.

But eventually it became "Fly Me Away" and I do think this fits more. It's a name I use for so many things. I use it for my e-mail, some usernames and on livejournal for instance. So it's important to me. And now I have my domain named that as well.
